Welcome to this weeks thread , week 88 and the featuring arts are : Geoff Kersey and Paul Jorgenson. I will open this evening with a introduction to Geoff Kersey and on Wednesday Jenny will introduce the artwork odd Paul Jorgenson. I hood you enjoy the artwork and the selections we have made . Geoff Kersey. Born and brought up in Sheffield where his farther worked in the steel industry. Geoff enjoyed drawing cartoons and animals from a young age , art was his favourite subject at school. He worked for the Coop Department store as a display assistant then moving to the advertising department where he later became Advertising Manager. Geoff painted watercolour landscape of local scenes in his spare time and joined several art groups. He was made redundant from his post in 1998 at the age of 42, he decided with the support of his wife to follow a childhood dream of becoming a Commercial Artist. In 2006 he wrote his first step by step instruction book and has since written fifteen book that have been translated into numerous languages including Chinese and Japanese. I hope you enjoy my selection of his artwork , I’m sure there is something there to suit most tastes.
I've followed Geoff for many years - remembering him as a fresh-faced lad; well - he looks OK today, as well.  How's that for faint praise?   He is very precise  - more so than I'd ever want to be; I used to compare him with Ray Campbell-Smith, and not often to his benefit.   But he is supremely skillful.  His draughtsmanship is unparalleled, judgement of colour and tone fantastic.
Geoff used to be a member of Sheffield’s ‘Ten Artists’ (which I’m a member of - we meet just once a year for a 2-day exhibition). He always had a huge following that would come to the exhibition just to see him/ his work.
A few more of his excellent paintings.
I remember seeing either a video of or article about the top one (in the latest tranche).  He has a very wide variety of techniques - all of his work is good: not all of it could be said to be typical of a style - he covers a very wide range.  Opinions may differ, but I think that's a positive thing.
I really like how the hills are painted in some of his paintings. On looking him up, he offers a free membership on his site. I will have a closer look at some of his techniques.
PAUL JORGENSEN was born in 1947 in British Columbia.  After graduating from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in the 1970s he spent time travelling in Europe, the influence of the Tuscan landscape evident in his paintings.  Over the next 30 years he worked at various occupations, from running a tropical plant store to owning a restaurant, painting after hours.  He now paints full time and his work is a combination of fantasy and colour. At the time he was at art school ‘hard edged’ paintings were the fashion, but it was the Group of Seven, the Impressionists and magazine illustrations that have always inspired him.  A hint of a story in a specific landscape intrigues him.  “My paintings are not intended to be a serious view of the world.  I like work that involves imagination and technique and that suggests stories.  I just want to make people happy looking at my paintings.” His work is acrylic on canvas and most are around 36” x 36”.

Don't think I'd put his work on my wall but wow, I wish I could put colours together like that.
It cheers you up - and shows that art can take myriad forms.
It made me look.  I'm all for a different take on things, he's achieved that.  I like the last one above.
I love this type of art. Some of them are a bit too much for me though. Like a David Hockney on 6 packs of cigarettes a day instead of just 3. Thank you for introducing this new, for me, artist. I would say the last one, the green house, is my favourite.
Just bringing this one back up again…….
