Indeed! I knew he reminded me of someone we had seen before. Like them both.
Thought I’d just post a couple more of his more abstract work - the first inspired by the Grand Canyon, and the second by the Californian coastline.
I like this one of New York very much. East Side1.
The grand canyon one - sorry, I can't help irreverence - reminds me of those great cartoons featuring Wile E. Coyote and the Roadrunner (meep meep!).  As the artwork was superb, I hope this artist won't be offended by the comparison. They're growing on me, these paintings - a very interesting discovery, thanks for the introduction to them.
Some thst I particularly like, hopefully I haven’t duplicated any already shown. The last one looks influenced by Blockley , the colours etc think are so much like his work.
I’m posting this a bit early as I will be out till late evening. Tristram Paul Hillier RA 1905 - 1983 was a English Surrealist painter. He was a member of Unit One led by Paul Nash . In WW11 he served in the Royal Navy Reserve with the Free French. More information about him is available on Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy his artwork.
New to me, and a surrealist for a change.  As with many of these genres, the meaning can be pretty broad.  Not outrageously surreal here, but the work does have a sense of unreality, and so fulfils the surreal brief of 'going beyond reality'.  I admire the crispness of the paintings.  The first and last of the above selection appeal to me.  Interesting work.
Wasn’t aware of this artist.  Like Lewis, I do like the crispness and also fresh colours in his work, although I would not have thought of it as particularly surrealist.  Some of it has a quite graphic quality.

Very slick paintings. I don’t claim to understand surrealism (? Above and beyond realism?) and these don’t appeal to me. They’re obviously skilfully painted but they have no character or interest, to me at least. Sorry Dixie!
As Lew suggests not a whole hearted disciple of surrealism but teetering on the brink.  Certainly a breath of fresh air as there is something very striking about his artwork.  here's a couple that caught my eye.

Tessa there is no need to be sorry for the artwork not being to your taste and it’s far better to be honest about it , I only posted it as one of the many artists I have on the list . To be honest I’m not overly excited by his work actually I’m not excited by  it, I do however admire his skill and technique, no I won’t be trying to do anything similar each to there own as they say.
Indeed! Always interesting to see all these different styles, and they have been very different.  No one is going to like all the artists we see but I’m always keen to see more, especially as a lot are people I would not have found myself.  So keep em coming!
