Robert has introduced Sir Alfred Munnings on a separate posting , I will introduce MacKintosh on this threat later in the week.
James McIntosh Patrick  1907-1998. Born in Dundee he studied at Glasgow School of Art and in 1929 he joined Dundee School of Art to teach etching and later painting and sty history. He posited portraits and still life but is better known mainly for paintings of the cultivated landscapes in the Scottish countryside. There is a good account of his life on Wikipedia. I hope you enjoy his artwork , I find his  paintings of trees particularly interesting and beautifully done.
There’s no doubt he’s a master of the tree? I especially like your first two choices Dixie.  This is apparently the view of the Tay Bridge from his studio window- what a view! Apologies for the quality of the photos! I had to take pics and then upload. You can always look them up to see the difference.
Wasn’t already aware of his work.  His landscapes are beautifully painted, and I especially like his skies - the cloud colours in these are really lovely.

Wow - I didn't know his work, but it's fabulous - perhaps a little too realistic and detailed for some?  But not for me - love this sort of work.
He's painted some of the best summery skies I've seen. And yes his trees are excellent too. There's the same attention to detail in everything he paints.
These are absolutely superb, many thanks for posting them.
Astonishing work, many undoubtably have the 'wow' factor.
I particularly like the view of Tay bridge that Tessa posted.
He is very new to me another superb artist that I discovered while researching for this thread. I really can’t resist his paintings particularly the trees .
Gasp...!  Does make you wonder how many more painters of such huge skill are out there, of whom we've probably never heard:  it's the headline-grabbers that get noticed, while others work quietly away doing what they do and feeling not the slightest urge to go and pickle a shark....
