Another super choice Jenny. I absolutely love his work, bought the book at Christmas for my grandson (that’s my excuse!). He’s not really old enough for it yet so I am looking after it for a while. I didn’t realise until recently that he does sculpture, and some wonderful paintings of which I’ve chosen a few. Could have picked a lot more!
I love the second one down on this page - am much less keen on the drip technique, because I think it's becoming a cliché.  The Jane Glue paintings of the Orkeys are very impressive, and I love the boy, the fox and the horse drawings - would that be MacKesy's own calligraphy?
I believe so Robert but I will dig out the book and check. Have you seen the film version?
The calligraphy is his own - these are a couple of images from his Instagram account where he first posted his illustrations.  Did you see the film, Tessa?  I saw it on Christmas Eve - it was beautifully done.  It followed a programme where he discussed his work and the making of the film - very interesting.

Thanks Jenny. Yes I did see the film and agree it was beautiful.
Just bringing this up to ‘latest posts’ again in case anyone else is interested in commenting?

Some excellent artwork Jenny , I hope to get a good look at his work later today.
Here are a few of his drawings
I asked about the calligraphy because I'm aware of a computer font that's not unlike it, but so glad to read that it's all his own work.  I haven't seen the film, I must look out for it.  Those are three great drawings just posted, too.
I have had a good look at his work and selected the ones below such a variety.
I love the painting of the old fella looking at the small painting. And the painting with drips. Yes, drips can ‘become a cliche’ as Robert commented, but they really work in this painting, for me.
A few more …..  his drawings in particular are beautifully done.
