Kruger is another artist I was unaware of. His work is very striking and I feel I have seen some of it before but not been aware of Who the artist is. His caricatures are too extreme for my taste, but I appreciate the undoubted skill , just not my cup of tea. I prefer some of his animal subjects and definitely his drawings which I was unable to save and post. (Copyright issues?). What is his medium Lew?
Mostly acrylic Tessa.
Thank you. It’ll be interesting to see what others think.
Well, he’s a bit special, isn’t he? “ Wow” comes to mind. I read your intro Lew and wasn’t expecting what appeared. Amazing how, as you say, you can’t mistake the subject. Yes, Ronnie Wood made me smile too - brilliant! Wonder if Ronnie has it.
Here's a few more...first CLinton... Sebastian is also keen on blues music, here he is withh some of his paintings....I don't know these musicians. Leonardo Dicaprio...hyper realism...although I'm astonished by the skill involved, I prefer the less realistic and caricatures... ...like this, the actor Warren Oates playing guitar... At work on a Keith Richards painting (not sure about that big hand over the face... I especially like the mono with a few colours in this one... And here's an unmistakeable duo...
Well Lew you certainly have pick out a superb selection of his artwork and a great introduction to him as well . I really like his work it’s an area of art that I’ve alway like to look at , personally I would not know where to start such a painting.  There is a magical element as you have said, “ it’s them , but not them ,but we know it’s them” comes to mind when I think about it.

An amazing artist, Lewis.  My thoughts echo Tessa’s - although I hadn’t heard of him, I’m sure I’ve seen some of his caricatures, although not his portraits of the Stones - that huge, realistic painting is brilliant, and the scale of some of his work is surprising. Although I can appreciate the skill that goes into producing his hyper realistic paintings and caricatures (the one of Ronnie Wood is hilarious) I think I prefer his drawings.  Love these… Frank Zappa

Wow, well they do say, 'and now for something completely different'.  This Steve Tyler one made me smile, even though I had no idea who the sitter was (looked him up though).  I was fascinated enough to look up more of Kruger's work and came across the Alice Cooper.  It is at the same time hyper-realistic and a caricature.  I would not have thought that was possible.

I do love the cat!
And I like his self portrait-surprisingly normal!
He does vary his styles, although now it's mostly hyper realism. Here's 'Money Making Madonna'... And Robert Johnson (don't know him)... Here's Marlon...it's the cover for his STARS book (I own a copy). and I like this one of Janis Joplin...
Wow what a talent, I love his caricatures but his 'realistic' portraits are incredible. The blues musicians are Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Albert King and John Lee Hooker, an amazing array of Blues musicians beautifully painted, amazing artist.
