As you say Marjorie, it’s difficult to choose a “favourite” style or subject with Lachlan’s work. It’s varied in both subject and media and to his credit and talent, successful. When I look at his work, more so than his fathers work, I see the influence of the colourist….Peploe, Fergusson, Hunter etc but also I see Cezanne and a smattering of Duncan Shanks! His still life work is exceptional, his landscapes are full of life….it’s clean, fresh and exciting to look at.  I’m not into bright and intense colour as a rule but the way Lachlan uses colour, makes me drool! A few of my favourites…
Excellent choice ladies! I love the first two of Fiona’s above, can’t take my eyes off the little pop of green on the teapot! What medium is he using? Will look further.
They look so clean and fresh - I know he uses gouache as well as oils. But this one is oil - simple shapes, clarity of colour.

Yes I see that he uses gouache quite a lot, oils and acrylic, sometimes a combination of these.  As you say Marjorie his method is very clean and sharp, and lovely colour selection.
Wonderful stuff ,thanks again Marjorie.
I've really enjoyed the Goudie postings and paintings; thank you one and all, especially Marjorie.
You’re welcome, Sylvia and Karen.
A very talented father and son combo.  I like Lachlan's use of bright colour.
Following Lew I agree with him two very talented artist, I must admit to a slight preference for Lachlan. I can’t put my finger on it but his work just appeals me more .
I agree Paul, it must be Lachlan's palette. I will look out for any books or DVDs to see if he shares any if his secrets.  Thanks Marjorie & Fiona & for the Tam O' Shanter story.
These are fine paintings, which cause you to ask quite why it is that some 'celebrity' artists with no discernible talent make millions with dross, while good artists who might not appeal to the taste of a Saatchi - should such a thing exist - tend to be overlooked.  Lachlan Goudie is not overlooked - his talent has forced its way through - and I'm sure he makes a good living from his paintings: but I doubt he is in the same financial league as that of some who will remain, so far as I'm concerned, nameless.   Moving on from which - 'clean' is a word that came to mind when looking at his work; a wide variety of subject matter of course, but all accomplished with clean lines, and fresh paint - i.e. not worked or mixed to death: I'd love to know what characterizes his usual palette.
Two excellent artists this week and two very informative introductions from Marjorie , big thank you  due there . I will open next weeks thread on Sunday evening and this evening I will open the bonus artist thread , it will be late evening as I have guests coming for early dinner . Hope I don’t do what I did last week and completely forgot until very late evening, must be my age all this forgetting.
