Welcome to this weeks bonus artist Joseph Zbukvic born in Zargreb Croatia in 1952 , he was discouraged from art by his parents and for a while studied languages .
The political instability forced the family to move to Australia where Joseph continue his artistic interests . He lives and work in Melbourne Australia.
I hope you enjoy his artwork as much as I have please look on the internet as there is a lot of his excellent paintings on show , yes I have been very greedy at this particular feast .

In many of Zbukvic's paintings, two things (among many) stand out - one is the lack of hard-drawn edges: he defines shapes with tone, sometimes very subtle tone at that; the other is his use of the white of the paper - I wonder if that (plus superb drawing skills of course) is the secret to the success of his work - he doesn't make MY usual mistake, of filling every inch of the paper with washes; he has excellent control, all the better because you don't really see him exercising it - this is not a slap-it-down-and-dash painter, his washes are carefully considered and placed, but you still come away with a feeling of absolute freedom and freshness in his work.
