Welcome to this weeks bonus artist Joseph Zbukvic  born in Zargreb Croatia in 1952 , he was discouraged from art by his parents and for a while studied  languages . The political instability forced the family to move to Australia where Joseph continue his artistic interests . He lives and work in Melbourne Australia.  I hope you enjoy his artwork as much as I have please look on the internet as there is a lot of his excellent paintings on show , yes I have been very greedy at this particular feast .

Another excellent and fascinating artist Dixie, with a variety of subjects.  I particularly like his sketching style.
What super paintings...he certainly knows how to use watercolour, I like his limited palette . .Also like Tessa I think his sketches are a delight.  Especially his figurative stuff , some of it reminds me of Adebanjis freedom and liveliness in his rapid portraits.   Good choice Paul.
Another good find, Paul.  Excellent artist, his watercolours are quite atmospheric.

I like his work, he's new to me.  So rare to see a good use of red in watercolour (the parasols)  Thanks Paul edit: and to be honest I prefer his water lillies to that other French chap's....

His work certainly is inspiring oh if only I was half a good or even a fraction . Some more of his work .
A fantastic artist, I've come across some of his work before, I especially like the chef and the boat yard. Lovely paintings.
And yet another brilliant artist I've never heard of. The light in his work is just sublime.
Wow what a wonderful artist. How can anyone achieve such fabulous work from watercolour! Never heard of him but I am inspired by his talent. Particularly liked these three painting the capture of light and reflection are exquisite
Thank you Paul for bringing this artist to our attention. Just love all of his paintings that Ive looked at. The light he manages to achieve is wonderful.
In many of Zbukvic's paintings, two things (among many) stand out - one is the lack of hard-drawn edges: he defines shapes with tone, sometimes very subtle tone at that; the other is his use of the white of the paper - I wonder if that (plus superb drawing skills of course) is the secret to the success of his work - he doesn't make MY usual mistake, of filling every inch of the paper with washes; he has excellent control, all the better because you don't really see him exercising it - this is not a slap-it-down-and-dash painter, his washes are carefully considered and placed, but you still come away with a feeling of absolute freedom and freshness in his work.
Nice when you introduce a artist  few people know of and you get such a good response , certainly make the effort worthwhile. I do like his work it so good to just sit and look at , one that I certainly will be looking at again .
