Welcome to this week Inspiration thread the featuring artist this week are : Gerhart Harderer and William Greaves. Lew will open the week with his introduction to Gerhart Harderer , and on Wednesday I will introduce William Greaves .  Have a good week keep well and safe , do enjoy your art.
Gerhard Haderer is an Austrian Cartoonist.  He was born in 1951.  After studying for four years at a technical art school, he worked in the advertising industry.  In 1985, after a cancer operation, he switched his interest to satirical cartooning and his work featured in many German newspapers and magazines.  He's won numerous awards and had many exhibitions of his work.  His work is now widely known worldwide.  He works in pen and watercolour, acrylic ink, and for his larger canvasses he uses acrylic.  Gerhard's targets are the political cartoonist's standard fare...politics, religion, and the inanities of modern society. Like many, he finds the mobile phone an irresistible target... And then there's holiday traffic... And corporate greed...how rich do you need to be?  Some people are unimaginably rich and still stuff themselves.... Global warming... Politics... Religion... I love his style of painting, and his take on our mad world.
Superb introduction Lew , like the artwork I will have a look online later.
Like the best cartoonists and satirists, he has a cruel streak.  I'm sad about the cremated dog - though the cartoon makes a good point - but much happier about the helpful shark enabling a diver to get a good picture: thoughtful, that.... kindly......
Great cartoonist, love his take on modern life - although, like Robert, rather sad about the fate of the poor little dog, but the helpful shark definitely raised a smile!
Perhaps I need to say that no animals or human beings were harmed in the production of these cartoons.  Interesting that you both thought the incinerated dog was sad, while, if I'm reading you right, being happy about the underwater selfie-taking being gobbled up by a shark.  An interesting fact relating to the shark pic...world wide, on average, about 6 people are attacked by sharks, while, in the UK alone, an average of 20 people die in mobile-phone related accidents (mostly texting while driving). Remember that nonsense  EU rule about bananas having to be a certain shape?  Well, it seems we weren't the only people who thought it bananas... Some more... Elvis lives...   I'm painting at the moments...walls...emulsion...I'll post more later.
I can see why you admire him so much Lewis, superb drawing skills coupled with acute observational awareness - remind you of anyone?
Fantastic! Very difficult to pick a favourite but the bum tattoos run it close. We have often speculated about the retirement homes which will eventually be full of tattoo covered elderly folk! Also I do love the chap with his papier.🤣

I like this one.   A fella dreaming of a sparkling new car...which would leave him exactly where he was.... The medical men tell us that a simple smile can make you feel better...and it does.  But, this way....?? One of the economic crashes... A Brexit cartoon... Last one for today...
Very good. Chap with the paper for me. So funny
Some more. Above...2014 was the year of disastrous floods in Europe. Below...this one apparently depicts the clowns who run the world... He doesn't think much of politicians...
