Well spotted Jenny - I don't know anything about either Johann Holst or Rudolf Hockner, but suspect that neither set the world on fire.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rudolf_H%C3%B6ckner Rudolf Höckner, 1864 - 1942 - Johannes Holst, dates in Paul's intro, Johann Holst, no date for his life that I can find, but his painting above is undated but somewhere in the region of 1730: quite a gang!   And I've just found two others: one also called Johann, another (who painted dogs principally) Johan - the world is alive with Holsts, or was; the city of Hamburg seems to be a common theme among them.  But let's stick with Paul's intended subject, Johannes, because he seems to be by far the best of them.

Yes don’t get it’s anymore mixed up I’ve done enough of that already.
Not your fault, there are stacks of 'em!
A I’m out till late evening I thought I would post a few more of Holst’s paintings , this time I’ve concentrated on his seascape . I looked at hundred of marine paintings over the last few months and his depiction of sea and skys stand out from the rest by a long way . One with a boat it’s one of the painting of the American Cup yacht s , he apparently did a lot of painting of them.
Paul is rightly besotted by this painter - I have a stretch of sea in a painting I'm working on right now:  shall we just say it's not as good as Mr Holst's interpretation....  mind you, I'm using acrylic: yes, that MUST be it.......  ahem.    Holst caught the movement, without which any sea painting is going to die on you: he also caught its minatory power - rather apt right now, in view of the tragedy that befell those on the yacht that was hit by a tornado, or water-spout, this week.  He clearly loved the sea and sensed that power.
Oh! I do like a seascape as you know Paul ! This Johannes fella certainly painted magnificent seascapes. I particularly like his stormy seas he captured movements and power of the waves so well …. a masterclass in how to paint the sea in all it’s glory
