No, I don't think you can get Fabriano treated like this, so she must be adding something to it, namely, I suspect, acrylic priming - I suppose it's possible that she scuffs the paper up, but it doesn't look as if she does. Priming would mitigate ballpoint ink's bleed -through tendencies, but .... surely the ink would leach into the surface - I haven't looked at her website yet, perhaps the answer lies there somewhere.
Anyway - I say again, I say, I say again (Foghorn Leghorn coming through here) this is fabulous work.

Fabulous work indeed! I feel her tree sketches and paintings could belong to different artists. Lew is right, she is not using your pack of biros from Tesco and in Dixie’s fifth photo above you can get an idea of the type of pen she is using.
While I appreciate her painting skills, it’s the tree drawings that I will remember.
