Hello everyone, I’m thrilled to join the Painters Online community! My name is Em Hoten, and I’m an artist based in the beautiful Peak District. My work is deeply inspired by the landscapes that surround me—particularly the rugged charm of the Peaks and the serene coastal scenes I’ve had the pleasure of exploring. I’ve been painting for several years, working primarily in oil and cold wax, with a focus on capturing the ever-changing light and mood of nature. My current portfolio includes a series of coastal landscapes and seascapes, which were recently exhibited in Holt, Norfolk. I’m also passionate about depicting the transition of seasons in the Peak District, a place that’s very close to my heart. You can view my work and latest collections on my website, www.emhotenart.com, where I share my journey as an artist and the inspiration behind each piece. I’m really looking forward to connecting with other artists here, exchanging ideas, and gaining inspiration from the incredible talent in this community.
Welcome Em… I’m liking what I see! How are you preparing your grounds prior to painting as I can see texture? Or is that simply the application of paint over a dried gesso ground! Something that is often overlooked and I’ve learned a lot from Seago on this subject…gesso and rabbit skin glue and so on.
Welcome, Ern - I've been out watching the tide come in today, so haven't yet looked at your website, but will do so when I've brushed the salt out of my hair.
I’m having a bit of a problem loading your gallery, several paintings appear but that’s about it… I’ll have another try tomorrow if I remember or have time! What few I’ve seen look interesting!
