Hi, my name is Stuart and although I have just joined the community I have been aware of it for some time. I am self taught I am afraid so all any glaring faults are of my own making entirely. I paint in oils, acrylics and pastels and although I have only came recently to oils I find I really love the blend ability and buttery feel. I not sure whether I have my own style as yet but I suppose it is probably a mixture of palette knife and brush and usually involved big skies.
I have put some images up in the gallery for you all to have a look at and I hope to keep picking up tips from you experienced artists.

Welcome - many of us are self-taught, probably a majority, so I wouldn't worry about that.
And I'm particularly pleased to have another oil-painter on the site, to keep us company.... I work in oil, acrylic and watercolour, but oil was my first love and it would be sheer self-denial on my part, for which I could neither forgive myself nor would I expect to be forgiven by anyone else, if I did not, ever so casually, refer you to my e-book Oil Paint Basics, on the Amazon Kindle Store.
Well at least it's better than threatening to sink my fangs into your neck, which Splosh has indicated she might like to do, revealing a hitherto unsuspected side of herself that will cause us all to edge away from her cautiously, reaching furtively for the crucifix and wolf-bane (isn't it amazing how hard these things are to lay your hands on in an emergency: and it is here, of course, that the vampire scores over us).
