Hi everyone. I've been painting for my own enjoyment in a geometric abstract / op art style since discovering the work of Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely (among others) in 1970. I've had many exhibitions, both solo and group shows and was told about this web site the other day by a visitor to my current group show. Here's a fairly recent painting of mine. 031 of 2022, acrylic on hardboard 24 inches x 24 inches. I rarely title my paintings, preferring the viewer to form their own ideas about it. It is all painted freehand, with no masking used.
Peter welcome aboard its good that you decided to look in on POL it’s nice have new artists and joining . I throughly enjoyed looking around the display and seeing your artwork on the walls rather than electronic. Do put more of you artwork on the gallery as I’m sure you well get a good response. We have a weekly thread where I put different artist work up for other to discuss most of the artists are suggested by the members who give a short introduction. I notice you mentioned two artist who influenced you and once your felling comfortable on the site let me know and I will add them to the list . Like you painting by the way , you had some excellent paintings on display in Hemel Hempstead it’s always nice to have a look around the groups work when I’m there.  Looking forward to seeing more of you art in the gallery.
Welcome Pete. I'm also a fan of Bridget Riley -- a large repro of Achæan hangs in my study -- and have already lined her up for the inspiration thread that Paul mentioned, but you're welcome to introduce her work when the time comes. Colour interactions have fascinated me for a while. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Martin
Welcome to POL Pete!
Not wishing to demean your art in any way by suggesting a commercial application beyond the bounds of decency, but that design in those colours would make a superb pocket square - as I wear such things, I'm a bit of a connoisseur of them.  Anyway, it's a very pleasing design, and I add my welcome as one of the Old Guard to POL.  PS - "No masking" - Good!  I much approve.
