This post keeps resurfacing... when we talk about learning from them, I wonder how many think the process through from bare canvas or wood to the finished article and how many are content to try and copy the look or surface layer of an old painting in an essentially modernist style?

yes Dennis ,I don't think many copyists would start an oil painting with a grizaillle underpainting but then it's not a forgery ,just a modern copy and if they are happy then that's fine........cheers ....Syd. :-)
