Hi all, I am self-taught as far as oil painting goes. Am applying for a part-time Fine Art course in Bath Spa University. Was wondering if anyone thinks that having a degree in Fine Art makes a big difference? The main advantage to me is that I am moving to a place where I know virtually no one except my husband to be, so doing a Fine Art course could make it easier for me to network and find opportunities to sell my work as well as fine tune my skills and learn new ones. If any of you have done a BA or Masters in Fine Art or similar, has it been a benefit to your career as an artist in terms of what you can charge for your work and professional reputation? Hope I'm not being too cheeky by asking, thanks. :-)
