While working with watercolour I have experimented with some brushes. I have found out that a Sable brush do not leave marks on the paper and the paint keeps its transparency while a mixed of synthetic and sable does not make justice to the transparency. I am animal friendly and I feel very difficult to let go my Sable. I have had them for more than 10 years and I should not have to replace them since i look after them very well.
I'd better buy it then,...............just when I had promised myself not to bother again.
Odd that - I haven't seen this months LP but I thought The Artist this month is the best I have seen for quite some time - perhaps because I am predominantly a watercolourist and watercolour seems to take front stage.
I also feel that the magazines are geared for watercolour but I can't stop buying them. I also like International artist as this does cover a wider range of medium. The one I did give up on is Art of England. Very emperors new clothes. Looks like I'm heading to the shops later.
Norm - you've convinced me - I'll get a copy of A&I when I'm in town.
LP 'Strewth I got a mention in it! A&I ? I had to give up on this their small grey print was too taxing to read...shame really because it always seemed to be interesting.
I've got a fair few art books, and have sold or given away rather more - thing is, I read them once, and have hardly looked at most of them since (some of course are reference works, so are dipped into frequently - as the paint stains testify); all that means, I think, is that it's a good idea to be discriminating in your purchases - nobody really needs a book that tells you what you already know.  Rarely buy DVDs, either - I don't really know why, because I always enjoy watching those given to me; and they take up a lot less space than books.  Or - mags: I have hundreds of art magazines, and gave up trying to store them in any kind of logical order long ago....  In fact, I want to get rid of them (to make space for more, of course...) - for anyone within easy reach of me, they're FREE!!!
