Young Artist of the Year

Young Artist of the Year

The search to find the most talented young artists is now underway with the launch of Peak District Artisans’ Young Artist of the Year 2012.

Following the success of last year’s competition - which attracted entries from throughout the Peak District – the group has decided to run the competition once again, but this time to a wider UK audience. Open to art students aged between 16 and 19, the competition aims to identify and give recognition to art students with outstanding talent. There are no restrictions on technique, materials or style. The work can be 2D or 3D, but it must be effectively reproduced in 2D printed form if required. Shortlisted candidates will be selected and given the chance to compete in the final. These entries will be judged by a panel of members of the group who will select the winners. The competition - which is sponsored by Turners Art - will see the overall winner receive £200 in cash, with second and third places receiving £100 and £50 respectively. All three will have the opportunity to exhibit their work alongside some of the Peak Districts' finest artisans at the award winning annual Great Dome Art Fair to be held in Buxton, 20th – 22nd July. The fair is a well know and well attended event in the region's art calendar organised by the Peak District Artisans. The deadline for entries is 6pm, Friday 8th June 2012, followed by the shortlist announcement on 22nd June 2012. The shortlisted candidates must have their original piece delivered to PDA by 29th June for the final judging stage.
