Visual treats of the season are for all to see at the Richmond Art Society's Autumn Exhibition, opening on Saturday 31 October, where new pictures from many of Richmond's best artists are on show. The exhibition is at the Vestry House at 21 Paradise Road, central Richmond, and runs every day from 10.30 am on Saturday 31 through to Sunday 8 November.

There will be well over one hundred pictures by members of the Society including oils, watercolours, pastels, prints, drawings, collages – and sculpture and ceramics too - all to bring colour and delight to the season. Jo Ellis's big watercolour of a Mediterranean summer scene "A Perfect Day" (below) will be a feature.
A Perfect Day

The official opening at lunchtime on Sunday 1 November is to be by Janet Croney, Learning Director in charge of creative and cultural studies at Richmond Adult Community College. Many of the Society's members have enjoyed expert tuition and practice at the College over the years.

The Richmond Art Society attracts some high-class artists from outside the borough too, for example from Kingston, Hounslow, Molesey and Chiswick, so competition for wall space is keen. And that is one reason why there will be another 100 or more pictures unframed in the display "browsers". Selection of what hangs on the walls is always by an expert - and secret - panel.

Everything is for sale at reasonable prices and the Society is strongly of the view that now is a very good time to buy art – for investment, for Christmas, but most of all for pleasure. Public admission is free. There is multi-storey parking next door. Hours are 10.30 am to 6.00 pm for the first eight days, with early closing at 4.00 pm on the last day.
