An exhibition of pictures by members of the Manchester Aviation Art Society depicting the military air operations on D-DAY 6th June 1944. The location is the Aviation Hall of the Manchester Museum Of Science and Industry

An exhibition of 20 paintings and drawings by members of the Manchester Aviation Art Society depicting the military air operations on D-DAY 6th June 1944. The exhibition is hung on the mezzanine level of the Aviation Hall of the Manchester Museum Of Science and Industry. MAvAS is an off-shoot of the Friends of MOSI and has been exhibiting at the museum since 1984. The exhibition is changed three times a year to a new theme, on this occasion recording the 70th anniversary of D-DAY. A challenge trophy is awarded for a selected work, in this case the Mackendrick Trophy was won by John Williams' for a painting of parachutists jumping from C47's. The trophy is awarded in memory of the late Jim Mackendrick and an example of Jim's work is hung as part of the exhibition.
