Make it Slow

Make it Slow

Come and be inspired by six of the UK's leading craft makers, whose message is that the traditional processes which lie behind their art can't be hurried!

Make it Slow is a stunning exhibition of contemporary crafts, which is making a leisurely journey across a network of small-scale venues in East Riding, North Yorkshire and East Lancashire. Take a moment to enjoy work by six selected artists, all of whom embrace the intrinsic values of the Slow Movement through their use of breathtakingly intricate techniques, sustainable materials and their connection with traditional skills.

The six artists are embroidery designer Aimee Betts; ceramic artists Fenella Elms and Chris Keenan; jeweller Misun Won; Sharon Adams, who creates sculptural yet functionless utensils and Lizzie Farey, who uses traditional basketry techniques to create sculptural forms. Each object within this inspiring show has its own story to tell and will encourage us to think about how we can apply ‘slow’ to our hectic modern lives. Make it Slow, Pocklington Arts Centre, Market Place, Pocklington, York YO42 2AR. Opening times: Tues 10 am – 5 pm, Wed 9.30 am – 1 pm, Thurs & Fri 10 am – 4 pm, Sat 9.30 am – 1 pm.
