CALL FOR ENTRIES - Outside the White Cube

CALL FOR ENTRIES - The organisers of the annual Cork Street Open Exhibition are proud to announce a fantastic new annual exhibition for the London art calendar titled - Outside the White Cube. The theme for the inaugural Bermondsey exhibition is: Outsiders' Celebration of Sport which can be interpreted in many ways. Cash prizes include Grand Prize, Young Artist Award, Visitors Choice and Runner Up.

Outside the White Cube is an exciting new open exhibition offering artists an opportunity to have their work seen by top gallery owners and influential figures in the London Art Scene. The theme for the inaugural Bermondsey exhibition is: Outsiders' Celebration of Sport which can be interpreted in many ways - from the view point of those outside sport or sport organisations, looking in or at a game, individual or event involving sport; from the point of view of those outside the current swirl surrounding the games taking place in London; or by artists who may consider themselves "outsiders" in the art world, creating artworks that deal with sport or athletes. The interpretation is intentionally broad, but the artwork must have some relation to sport. The Exhibition will be held from the 25 July – 10 August 2012. The gallery occupying 8,000 square feet, is known as the Bermondsey Project Space - and has featured a number of exhibitions over the past year curated by Edward Lucie-Smith and Mick Bateman. Proceeds from the Exhibition will benefit Crisis, the national charity for single homeless people, who also run a series of training and art workshops in the adjoining studios There is a limit of six entries per artist. Over the past 3 years the judges have stated that they find it easier to choose work by artists they have seen several entries from, as opposed to single entries. Therefore, in order to encourage multiple submissions, which are clearly to an artists' advantage, the fees for entries subsequent to the first submission have been reduced. The 2012 fees for online entries are: £20 for the first submission, and £12 for each additional entry, £18 for the first young artist (under 22 years) submission, and £8 for each additional entry. 2012 Prizes: Grand Prize - £1,500 Cash Prize, An Exhibition held in the Bermondsey Project Space First Place Prize - £1,000 Cash Prize, A professional iBook created about your work Runner-Up Prize - £750 Cash Prize Visitor's Choice Award - £750 Cash Prize Young Artist Award - £500 Cash Prize, A professional iBook Portfolio created about your work APPLY ONLINE Please see the website for full details and to register online. www.outsidethewhitecube.com
