About the Art Breaks: Art Breaks in East Anglia, with professional Art Tutor Christine Lester Professionally Tutored Weekend Painting Breaks on the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast. “Join me, Christine Lester, on a weekend painting break in Suffolk. Draw and paint inspirational locations in and around Woodbridge and the Suffolk Heritage Coast. Relaxing and informal, but with professional tuition to help you unleash your individual, creative potential!” These interesting and inspirational locations have been chosen for you as we believe they are some of the most special places to paint. Such as: the ever-popular seaside town of Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Heritage Coast, where you'll see Maggi Hamling's famously controversial scupture on its shingle beach; Snape Maltings on the River Alde, where you are surrounded by Henry Moore sculptures in the grounds of Benjamin Britten’s concert hall; the unspoilt and very popular town of Southwold, most famous for its lighthouse, pier and colourful beach huts; and Thorpeness, where you'll see Suffolk's most famous 'folly' - the 'House in the Clouds'. The two-day Weekend Art Breaks start on the Friday evening with 'Welcome drinks' for all participants to meet, and run all day on the Saturday and Sunday. In each of the scheduled locations there is a 'Studio' base, where demonstrations take place. These small-group courses are suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike, with friendly and sympathetic guidance from Christine. Key Features: • small groups - more individual attention • tuition by a professional (working) artist, experienced at teaching adults • daily demonstrations on technique, using different mediums • the opportunity to try new materials and mediums, with guidance • expert guidance, while you produce your own work • idyllic and inspirational painting locations Cost per participant; £195.00 The Course fee includes: • two days’ painting instruction • daily demonstrations on technique • refreshments, at the 'Studio' base • transport to any other painting locations (if applicable) • delicious light-lunches locally, as a group, on both days What you’ll need… Although instruction centres on sketching and watercolour painting, participants are welcome to bring whatever medium they choose – as long as it is easy to carry! About the Artist/Art-Tutor - Christine Lester Christine Lester is a professional painter and Art Tutor, experienced in a wide variety of mediums and subjects, and is a Professional Member of the SAA (the Society for All Artists) as both an Artist and a Demonstrator. Although originally from Essex, Christine Lester developed her painting skills when she lived in Somerset. Painting a variety of subjects in oils, acrylics and watercolours, she exhibited widely at West Country locations, from The Bath Society and Clifton Arts to independent galleries. When not teaching, Christine spends much of her time painting - of course! Now back in East Anglia, her own paintings take the region - its places and its people - for inspiration. Some of her most popular paintings are also available as Limited Edition prints. Christine exhibits locally and in London, and her work can be seen at various locations in Essex and Suffolk. Details of current Exhibition venues can be obtained by telephone, or by visiting the website. Christine also welcomes Commissions, and her paintings of much loved pets, of children and of family houses or second homes always prove particularly popular. New for 2012, Gift Vouchers are now available - for both the Art Breaks in Suffolk; and Christine's paintings, prints & murals, and her Commissioned work.
