Urlicht

Urlicht

Watercolour and poem inspired by the fourth movement of Mahler's Resurrection symphony

URLICHT In tiny hands the red rose sits In bud we are as one. Waiting the time to bloom Soft petals to open in maturity. Remember the scent of youth and As in life the golden anthers light our way. Yet the sap rises from the briar, Life’s thorns protecting the delicate petals. The seed ripens, the petals wither. To bloom again the seed must be sown Pick the rose before it dies and carry it all your life. Believe with wings of faith and we will die as one To rise and live again Inspired by Urlicht and Mahler’s Symphony n2 The Resurrection Bob Milton November 2017
