The Rains Are Here...And a Picture of our Winter Hibiscus

This morning started much the same as yesterday warm and humid...but as the day wore on winter again descended...it started with a downpour and then the cool followed...by evening winter had returned and we now have a nice fire on again...I love having a warm fire in winter...we don't really need central heating so we have a slow combustion wood burning fire which heats the whole house. The wood farmed Jarra mill ends a very hard Australian wood which lasts for ages so only one big piece is needed. The one problem with Him Indoors lighting the fire tonight was that I had a painting stretched on a drawing board on a table easel propped on top of the fire in order to see it from a distance...because Daughter and I were deep in girly conversation I didn't notice until Hubby said. "How long do you think it will take for this to set alight." Daughter and I were unusually speechless. So the painting was picked up by Hubby and we now know why he will never paint...no clue how to handle artistic equipment...it took two hands to move a small drawing board and a very light table easel which was very awkwardly put into the spare room where I keep my stuff. My equipment was saved which is more than I can say for the painting on the drawing board...I can look at it until the cows come home but it's still overworked with big blue mistakes...another is on the way...the sketch is in only the resist and then the paint.
