The day to day grind: Surviving and thriving. An American artist in Paris talks

Date: March 27, 2014, 6:30 - 9 p.m. For Be Smart About Art's Monthly Talk in March 2014, artist Marcus McAllister will inspire and inform artists, curators and others in the creative industries, to keep on keeping on. An artist who arrived in Paris from America in the 1990s without knowing a word of French, Marcus now makes a full-time living as an artist, regularly exhibiting on an international basis. In true 21st Century style, he successfully collaborates with galleries whilst self-representing all the while. Needless to say, he is a focused individual who understands what it takes to keep oneself on track to survive, and thrive. In this talk, he will give insight about what he has done and does to this day, to run a full-time creative practice that necessitates juggling between the studio, computer, exhibitions, international travel and more. Come with an open mind, and expect to leave buzzing with ideas and positivity! Marcus and Susan's can-do attitudes, coupled with keen proponents of communication and collaboration, are infectious.
