passing by

Have been posting a series 'passing by'. i was at a workshop with no back up material. I was gazing into space while everyone else had started their masterpieces, The room was chilly and suddenly my husband's Italian Grandmother flashed into my mind. She had come to England to marry when she was 16 years old and even at 80 years still felt the cold. I remembered when I had to take her on one of her rare shopping trips to buy her summer stockings - thick flesh coloured lisle. These stockings plus her light navy coat meant summer had officially begun. This idea somehow evolved into how old ladies were frequently by themselves and overlooked. Germaine Greer said once if you have grey hair and you wear grey clothes then you are not seen.
