Well, I thought I'd give it a go - entering one of my landscape oil paintings into a small local exhibition. Received the leaflet with terms and conditions etc., one condition was all entries must be framed and mirror plates attached. So, despite the extra expense, off I toddled to the framers and chose a very nice antique pine for the frame, the wood complemented the colours in my picture perfectly. When I arrived at the collection venue, I was surprised to see that most of the entries which had been handed in had either no frame at all or those that did, had cheap and nasty ready-made frames. At first, I thought I needn't have gone to all that expense but then wondered if my "classy" frame would make my painting stand out from the rest. Who knows, time will tell. The exhibition will open to the public on 18th July and close on 17th August. I might just wander in a couple of times to eavesdrop on viewers' comments! Brenda
