Has anyone been watching Dan Cruickshank's series 'Adventures in Architecture'? It ceases to amaze me how many beautiful buildings there are around the world. Last night I saw last weeks programme, and amongst many it covered a shanty-town in India near Mumbai. On first appearances the place looked dirty and disorganised, but a closer look at life inside the town revealed order, beauty and innovation in the way the people there had built their homes from anything they could get hold of. As artists, with all these beautiful things in the world, how can we ever fail to be inspired? PS. If anyone has painted any scenes like this, please post them in the Gallery - I'd love to see them!
