I really don't understand what is wrong with inches. Inches are easy I know what twelve inches looks like from personal experience. 30cm just doesn't quite spring to mind as easily. It's funny 'cos i never did imperial units at school - I'm too young... but I want to buy canvases in inches not in cms... Hey ho. I'm now putting the cms measurements next to my stuff as I seem to be using metric sized canvas all of a sudden... W&N deep edge stuff rather than the really cheap rubbish I normally use... ostensibly this is so I don't have to frame them. This brings me to another question... to paint edges or not. I must admit continuing the image to the edge of the canvas always looks a bit cheesy to me. At the moment I mask the edges (to avoid the inevitable runs) and leave them white. I can also see the point in painting them a flat colour (mostly to cover the runs). What do folks reckon? Anyway building a nice body of work on big block canvas's atm... all ready for my sudden invite to anther show... the invite I'm expecting... optomistically... and possibly unrealistically, Cheers, Ade
