Bursting with colour: enjoy Doranne’s paintings of luscious Mediterranean fruits

Watermill at Posara painting tutor Doranne Alden always manages to capture the bright colours of the Mediterranean in her vibrant watercolours – and nowhere more so, in my opinion, than when she’s painting fruits. I have just picked a small selection from her fruit bowl. Good enough to eat, I reckon! Those tomatoes above are just bursting with colour. I can almost smell them and they bring back memories of Summer days under the mill vine verandah: cold meats, local cheeses, warm bread, fresh baked – and big juicy tomatoes from our walled garden. Doranne Alden is a professional artist, art teacher and graphic designer who particularly loves painting in watercolour. She now lives in Malta, but also worked for several years in Germany. Doranne is also a dedicated teacher, who has led many classes and workshops. She loves sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm, inspiring her students to produce their best work — and she’s happy to teach beginners as well as more experienced painters. Doranne Alden’s week-long watercolour course at The Watermill at Posara will run from Saturday 9 May to Saturday 16 May. The Watermill at Posara runs painting holidays with expert tuition in watercolours, oils, acrylics, pastels and other media. You can find out all about all their talented and inspirational tutors and their courses by going to http://www.watermill.net. Happy painting!
