I went to the talk last night. It was given by a very knowledgeable lady who has over 30 years experience of reporting, editting, PR work etc. She said, in short, that local papers especially are crying out for stuff to fill their pages. They have often cut back on staff and if you can give them a ready made story they will bite your hand off. You will need an 'angle' though. It is not good enough to say that you produce nice pictures. If you are a pink fluffy gay whale that has overcome adversities to get where you are, that is the hook. Your publicity will ride on the back of that. If my little exhibition comes off I'll produce a press release using the tricks and tips I learnt and try the local paper. Nothing ventured...
