Sharon Spradbury

Biography

I've loved drawing ever since childhood. Initially taught by my dad, pen & ink drawings of birds & buildings of interest near to where I lived, inspired by a local newspaper artist at the time, who I was lucky enough to meet… this has carried throughout my life, subjects along my artistic journey have included buildings of interest, wild animals & pet portraits. Most recently I work mainly in coloured pencils & pastels, creating art in a style of realism & fine detail. My artwork 'Contemplation' was exhibited in the finalists exhibition held at the prestigious Mall Gallery, London at the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation awards, artist of the year 2011 I've studied on an Arts Degree Course with the Open College of Arts, which included watercolour, drawing & painting, qualifying with a 'Certificate of Higher Education' in 2017. I find inspiration from the love of animals & nature, domestic & wild, all having such an important role in many of our lives. It is with this thought that I aim to capture their true beauty, nature & character in my work, whilst aspiring to draw awareness to endangered species & animal cruelty. My aspirations are to help our depleting wildlife populations through my artwork. On the sale of some of my original artworks, I will make a donation to charity in support. For the animal portraits I use only artists' quality, archival materials, sourced from ethical, sustainable & environmentally friendly manufacturers & suppliers. I work from photographs, building up layers of colour to create depth & detail, while capturing a true likeness & character of the animal. I offer both a 'Commissioned Pet Portrait Service' & 'Original Artwork' for purchase. To find out more visit: www.sharonspradbury-artist.com Thanks for taking the time to read my profile, Sharon.
