Samantha Louise

Biography

I am a full-time artist based in West Sussex, UK. My work combines my passion for painting and sailing. I exhibit my paintings in a number of galleries, exhibitions and events throughout West Sussex. Inspired by my twin passions, my work endeavours to capture the solitude, freedom and introspective experience of sailing on the open seas. Working in mostly acrylic and using broad brushstrokes and a palette knife, my work depicts the myriad of colours reflected by the sun and moonlight on an ever-changing sea. Capturing the untamed force of the ocean, the driving wind, the yachts heeling over or becalmed with their sails contrasting against the endless horizon, my paintings reflect the full spectrum of the sailing experience. I work from my bright and airy studio at home. It provides a tranquil environment for me to paint and experiment in. I gain inspiration from being out at sea sailing, or going for long walks along the shoreline, taking in all the beauty our ocean has to offer.
