Priya Suneel

Biography

A Fine Arts graduate with a degree with Distinction and the Government of India Merit Scholarship, Priya Suneel's practice includes painting, mixed media and drawing with inroads into three dimensional work. Her work is known for its dramatic imagery, her bold, confident and vibrant use of colour and her distinctive incorporation of fabric and found objects. Suneel's technical competencies, combined with an intelligent sensitivity in her approach to the story that she is telling and the materials she employs, result in imaginative interpretations with engaging narratives and dynamic compositions. Her ability to take found objects and turn them into recognizable form shows her skill as an artist, aesthetic sensibility and unique perspective. Suneel has participated in several solo and group exhibitions in Kathmandu, Lagos, Delhi, Chennai and London. During the course of her career her art has been shown and been part of collections at the Madras Museum of Contemporary Arts (Chennai), Vadehra Art Gallery (New Delhi) and the Terra Kulture Gallery for Contemporary Art in Nigeria. Currently member of Pinner Sketch Club, she has been part of the Society of Nigerian Artists, Hampstead Artists Council, the Brent Artists Resource, and Wembley Art Society. Suneel lives and works in Northwood and her work is in private collections in the United States, Nigeria, Nepal, India and London.
