Nigel Wade

Biography

I was born in Brighton and grew up next to the sea in Hastings, which gave me a love of the coast, water and the outdoors. Throughout my life I have been inspired by the beauty of landscape which I enjoy through walking, cycling and travel. A degree in History of Art and Architecture at Reading University gave me a fascination for the Pre-Raphaelites in particular and the English landscape painters of the 18th and 19th centuries in general. Having painted and drawn all my life I started doing many drawings and paintings for friends as commissions after my degree, while pursuing a career in Retail. The paintings have almost always been in watercolour and the style soon became that of hyperrealism, with a strong use of light and colour. I am a member of the Kent Painters Group. I live in Farnborough, Kent.
