Martina Hildebrandt

Biography

I’m a London-born artist and designer now living in Reading. Over the past few years I have been using traditional linocut techniques and combining them with collage and collagraph printing, creating a family of strolling figures engrossed in our current obsessions – phones and coffee. Creating thought-provoking images that leave room for the viewer to imagine. I’ve exhibited mainly in Reading and Henley-on-Thames, however I am now exploring further and most recently I have exhibited at the Southbank Printmakers Mini Print exhibition and online with Highgate Contemporary Art. I trained as a Theatre Designer at the Wimbledon School of Art, I worked for the London Fringe and touring companies for 7 years. With creative parents, making things has always been a part of life. Then, for 21 years I dealt with a different kind of paint, you will have found me at the paint desk in a big diy store, but recently left that all behind me. In 2012, I became an active member of the Reading Guild of Artists (RGA), where I have been able to use and develop various skills, and volunteer as their Webmaster and Archivist. I also volunteer at Reading Museum, researching the Museum's Art Collection.
