Lesley Linley

Biography

I began my career in art as a Graphic Designer. Later I studied watercolour and this led to a career in Adult Education which left little time for my own paintings; eventually I moved to Skye where I opened a studio, where I was able to develop my watercolour painting and run workshops and classes. I'm now back in Derbyshire and working on paintings of local interest, with occasional workshops and classes. I paint mainly landscapes and waterfalls, working exclusively in transparent watercolour - no mediums, masking fluid or body colour; my 'whites' are simply those of the paper; this approach means that my work is labour intensive. I’ve appeared in Paint & Draw, Skye Makers, Country Images (cover artist) and Artsbeat. In 2019 exhibitions at Leabrooks Gallery and Cromford Gallery are my first since returning to Derbyshire, however I exhibited and sold from the Harley Open Exhibition at Welbeck, and have a painting Highly Commended in TALP 2019. I’m currently working on my first book with Search Press.
