Biography

Although I’ve only lived in Chesterfield for a few years, it’s here that I discovered my calling. I love doing commissioned paintings; some for therapeutic reasons and others for many reasons. I enjoy painting a wide range of subjects and challenging myself. To gain a customer’s trust so they feel safe enough to confide in me is truly inspiring. Customers' discuss their hopes, dreams, a troubled past even a favourite song. After the initial Consultation an image will form, followed by a sketch/draft and a painting will develop that the customer will love. I do paint a variety of subjects but commissions are what I enjoy doing the most. My art has evolved from a lifetime of experiences including death and heartache. For almost twenty years I was a Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages then spent five years as a Funeral Arranger; I have experienced a wealth of human emotion which has, developed in me this ability to truly listen and create some unique works of art. My studio is my little conservatory which overlooks my garden which is usually peaceful for painting until one of my cat’s needs attention! Although I’ve painted my entire life, it’s only in my mid 50’s that it’s truly taken hold and I know what I want to do with the rest of my life. I guess it’s because now is the right time for me because I’ve got something to say.
