Adrian Homersham

Biography

I am a watercolour painter based on the South Manchester, Cheshire border. The aim of my work is not to represent the physical appearance of the landscape but to express my own emotional response to its space, light, movement and atmosphere. The majority of my recent work has been created using watercolour and aims to exploit its wonderful translucent qualities and potential to distribute pigment in highly expressive and unique ways. I envisage that over time my work will gradually become more abstracted and emotionally driven, and increasingly less concerned with individual forms and features within the landscape. Rather than working from spectacular expansive panoramas, I often find myself drawn to smaller aspects of the landscape such as undergrowth, a small thicket, hedgerows or corners of fields. I find that intimate subjects of this nature allow great opportunities for personal expression and creative exploration. My work has been exhibited in several group shows in the North of England and is held in private collections in both the UK and Europe. I am a fully qualified artist with both a Degree and Masters Degree in Fine Art; I am also a fully qualified art tutor and offer private tuition to students of all abilities.
