Get started with Dulwich Art Group - Life drawing/Painting in South London! Great to have you on board, looking forward to meeting you. We are a group of artists who see painting and drawing from life as one of the fundamental elements in the creative process. There is no tutor as such although if you want an opinion about your work it'll be easy to solicit some of our more mature members have endless experience of the arts, painting and drawing and have been professional educators. Learning seems to occur through observation and osmosis, being around others who love painting and drawing, young or old seems to do the trick. We meet on Saturday Mornings 10.00 - 1.00pm, Wednesdays 12.00-3.00pm and Thursdays 7.00-9.00pm. These are essentially drop-in groups, no long term commitment is required so feel free to try us out. The £10 session fee is payable at the half-time break during the session. Refreshments are available, a modest donation is expected. We use an old Sea Scout Hut which belongs to JAGS (James Allen's Girls' School) in Dulwich a short walk from North Dulwich Station. The premises are excellent and the space is a good size, warm and airy. We have taken control of the lighting by having professional daylight studio lights for artists and model. We supply easels and drawing boards and A1 cartridge at 20p per sheet. other supports and media we ask you to bring yourself - although there may be a stick or two of charcoal available in extremis and we have recently trialled supplying more exotic papers for £1 and £2 per sheet. If you are an absolute beginner we'll have a chat at he beginning and establish if you want to forge ahead alone or if you'd like to be given some first steps to take.
