Bardsea Schoolroom Art Group

Bardsea Schoolroom Art Group

The Bardsea Schoolroom Art Group was founded in 1988 by local artist and village resident Ron Stacey. At that time just twelve members were taught by nationally and internationally acclaimed tutors willing to share their techniques and secrets, including painter Erik W Gleave, sculptor Glynn Potter, and noted pastellist Christopher Assheton-Stones. ach term the Group invites locally and globally recognised tutors such as Lake Artist Society members Graham Twyford and Kevin Chester, Jo Hadwin, Valerie Woods and Lee Payne to ‘show how it’s done’ and fulfill the Group’s aim – to foster the artistic abilities of its members and widen their horizons. There are three separate sessions: the Monday and Tuesday sessions run from 10 am to 2 pm and you can be a beginner, an amateur or even a semi or professional artist to join. The Life Drawing Class runs on a Thursday evening. Every two years the Group runs an exhibition of work at Bardsea Schoolroom; Many Bardsea Group members are also members of the Ulverston Society of Artists, which runs expos at The Coronation Hall in Ulverston. All are opportunities to sell and display work created at Bardsea.
