Love your work always, Walter. The colours and detail in this painting are right up my street. Can I ask if any artist has been your inspiration?

Hi Thea - many thanks for your kind comments they are much appreciated - thinking of artists who inspire me - well I guess my favourite artists would be Rembrandt and Cezanne while the Scottish artists whose work I I am drawn to would be Samuel Peploe and a watercolourist called Arthur Melville.

You've gone and posted it twice - and I commented on the second one; well, Walter, that's your lot.... a busy man such as I, etc, etc...... Samuel Peploe's work I know, but I must look up Arthur Melville - any special links to which you could point us? Your work is all your own, in any event - I've enjoyed all of it that you've posted here.

Ah - found it; he was the painter of the utterly wonderful Arab Interior, of around 1881, in oil: a superb exemplar.

Hi Robert - sorry about the image mix-up and thanks for your comments- Arthur Melville also painted exquisite watercolours of Arab scenes amongst others - he used a fantastic blue colour that I can't replicate. Hi Steve -thanks for your comments - harbours are great places to paint - full of colour and detail.

Had a look at both the artists you mentioned. I like both but am most impressed with Arthur Melville. It is always nice to discover new artists and see how they have approached their subjects.

A lovely colourful, interesting painting your creels have made.

Hi Thea and Carole - many thanks for taking the time to comment - it is much appreciated.

Lovely paintings. I like your style very much, Walter.

Thanks Ruth for your kind comments

20x9 inch watercolour on Langton paper (I think) using W&N artists tubes. Just a pile of creels I chanced upon at Arbroath Harbour
