Ver cute Walter, a lovely little portrait of this little girl

Many thanks Ros - Oscar Marzaroli was a brilliant photographer who photographed lots of poor kids on the streets of Glasgow about 40 or so years ago.

Love the red wellies, great little painting Walter.

I must admit to not being a fan of Joan Eardley. If some kind person stood me in front one of hers and this one of yours and said they would buy me the one of my choice, no contest, this one wins hands down.

Charming and very sweet. Lovely composition as well.

Hi Carole, Val and Thea - Many tahnks for your lovely comments - Val - I think that choice would cost you a lot of money in the long term!

Many years ago we bought a book entitled "Shades of Grey Glasgow 1956-1987" showing photographs by Oscar Marzaroli of Glasgow, its building and people - this is a brilliant book. Recently my wife showed me a photograph of a little girl from the book and asked if I could paint something like it. Well this was a tall order made more so when I flicked through a few more pages of the book and came upon a photo of the Samson family children painted so brilliantly by Joan Eardley! So it is no little trepidation that I offer my effort at capturing the little girl in Oscar Marzaroli's superb photo. This painting will be kept in our home and hopefully as such does not invoke any copyright issues - if it does I apologise to those concerned.
