Rooks and crows are my favorite birds you've made a good job of this one.

I always think they are such menacing looking birds Satu and you have really captured that feel with the muted grey background. I resurrected my (very) old oil paints the other day and most of them seem to have solidified in the tube. A good excuse to stay in my comfort zone!

Well, I love the muted image and that soft look. I have managed to get to my painting this weekend. I am not quite finished.

He certainly has that 'don't mess with me' crow look! A striking image Satu.

Excellent work Satu!

Love it! My all time favourite group of birds and I think this is fabulous. You've made him look intelligent, mysterious, and knowing....as they are.

Kevin, Christine, Gudrun, Louise, Debs and Fiona, thank you very much for your comments!

He is lovely Satu. I am very drawn to images of all members of the crow family. I love to watch them strutting around. I love the restrained colour palette which captures the endless rain and the monotone effect it can create.

Yes we get a lot of these Satu. They are always after my fatty balls! Lovely soft oil painting.

Thank you Julie and Carole!

Hi Satu, love your Rook, very clever birds.

This is STUNNING, Satu! Beautifully mellow yet dramatic and lively. I'd love to struggle and come up with the result!

A great "little" piece....... simple but so effective.

Lovely Satu, a suitably characterful study that looks exactly like these birds do when they are walking about

Thank you very much Avril and Ros!

Brooding and atmospheric - pure Edgar Allan Poe!

Satu, Great painting and can I also say I really like your expressionist Landscape paintings.

Thank you Kim and Peter!

A lovely Rook, he looks so dignified and assertive!

Thank you so much Angela, you have gone back in time. Rook lives now in Nice.

Struggling with my oils! They are messy and I have forgotten how to use them properly after so many years with acrylics. Still I do enjoy them, that soft glide on a canvas and the way they mix so easily. This rook was "inspired" by that horrendous rain we have had since the new year. Light was so bad that black and white felt like the only option.
