Another great painting. That could be me and my brother waiting for a friend who lived on Athol Road !

But not in 1980 more like 1950 !!! Looking at age of the children.

Richard, you'll have recognised the corner of Athol Rd. in the foreground of the new painting. Those people waiting for the bus are between the end of Highbury Rd. and Alexandra Rd. S. In the new painting, the man is on his own. When I painted this first version, I was living in a student house, 54 Athol Rd. the last house on the right.

This is really good Roger and it’s great to see how you painted the scene originally. I like both of them but for different reasons, this one as its quite traditional looking and nostalgic, the newer one because it modern and reflects the changes . Both are really well painted, I find it interesting that you have returned to the same scene several times, and fortunately have now completed a painting for use to see and appreciate.

Very very good Roger, keep them coming!

12" x 16" oil on board. Paul (Dixie) Dean suggested that I post my first painting of this scene from autumn 1980. I've tried other versions in the meantime but the one I posted on Saturday is the only one I've finished in 41 years! I'd be interested to know what people think.
