Love this Robert and yes you are right rats are very clever and would have no problem at all climbing into the roof. In fact were they not permanent residents in the roof thatch of cottages.

Our next door neighbour,bless him, was convinced rats and mice were getting into his roofspace by clambering up the drain pipe. Blissfully unaware that rats are more than capable of shinning up the inside of lath and plaster walls, in which his house abounds. Watercolour and ink.
