Lovely painting. Love the activity. Great the way you have captured the texture on the rocks. You certainly have conveyed a gorgeous sunny and happy day.

I love the feeling of this painting - very content even though the scene is quite busy

An absolute delight. Do you use acrylics in the fashion of watercolours? What surface do you paint on, paper, board or canvas? Yvonne Rylatt.

Thank you all for your kind comments. It is acrylic on canvas, painted in the same way as oils.

Sweet image and I bet all those lovely memories flooded back when you painted it. Absolutely lovely.

I thought I'd left a comment here yesterday, but no. Anyway, It feels as if I'm there, as do all the figures, superimposed or not.

Lovely painting. Jx

Richard, I have just revisited your portfolio through a later posting of yours and I would like to add to my comment here. I find it really hard to paint a beach and sand. You have done it so expertly here. I had to say. Jean

Thanks Jean. I often use a nepheline gel with grit in it to paint beaches. This gives the original a sandy texture, making it a bit easier to achive a realistic result. However, I'm afraid that I have found no subsitute for taking time to paint in all the detail.

I may be late in praising your children pictures I admire them very much.Having not long entered this site being the reason. Great portoflio. Is there anything you cannot paint ?

Joy, Thanks for your kind remarks. It's never too late to receive praise! I really enjoyed looking through your gallery. I see you also like beach scenes. Best wishes, Richard

20" x 24". The scene is based upon a series of photographs that I took on Porthgwarra Beach on the south Cornwall coast in England. It was a beautiful sunny August afternoon and the sea was almost dead calm. I was inspired to paint this by the little girl running up the beach. She had clearly had a good day but was being told by her parents that it was time to go home. Some of the other figures on the beach were superimposed to give balance and interest. Please visit my web site at: www.richardharpum.com
