Yes, I like this too., especially the leaf work and the texture on the apple Rebecca :)

Good tones, Rebecca, and a good attempt.

Do you know, I'm not sure what nitram charcoal is .... I've just used, er, basic charcoal without thinking where it came from... Anyway: one of your more accurate sketches - maybe a bit more dark shading at the bottom right, just to show where the fruit sits on the plate and show the shadow. Maybe try conté crayon - it comes in degrees, from quite hard to very soft; it's not unlike charcoal in some ways, but it doesn't go flying away if you don't fix it with a spray; and you can work white chalk or white conté into it. You might enjoy it.

Thanks so much for liking this Sarah :-) i am really pleased that it has received such positive feedback :-) all weekend i have been drawing apples, apples, apples, apples, but it is fun and i like to :-p, i think it is getting a bit like the close encounters of a third kind :-) where all the man was creating was mountains out of whatever he could find, like mashed potatoes etc :-p only kidding, i just love to draw apples at the moment, by the way, i will be away now for a week, so i wont be posting anymore pictures for a week :-)

hi Robert :-) thanks so much for commenting :-) iv used every charcoal brand on the market over the years, in researching which one is easier for me to use, and Nitram for me, has beaten everyone, and I will always be using it for every charcoal drawing i produce. The Nitram does not give off dust into the air either, so i dont get allergic reactions like i do with the others. Thank for suggestion Conté i am pleased it suites you, because not every brand can be suitable for everyone. See you around and take care :-)

Certainly impressed with this one Rebecca. Carry on.

thanks so much Gudrun :-) it makes me smile to know you are impressed by it :-) i personally think it not very good, but, i am not really into realism or capturing anything that is real if that makes sense..... :-p
