I t reminds me of the african plains too. Very atmospheric Rebecca.

Thanks Sarah :-) iv never been there, but it's what it resembles i feel :-) i thought it was just me :-p

'Ere - have you been taking lessons? I know some of us give you a hard time on here, but these two latest ones - your distant fields and this one - have got something. Normally, I'd say you possibly should have defined the foreground tree better, but actually the way it melts into the painting is effective.

Robert this has made me grin :-p giving me a hard time indeed, what nonsense :-p sorry to disapoint you all but no, i am not taking lessons :-) these paintings just come to me as and when, i do not know from peice of paper to the next what picture will appear :-) it's just luck at times if i post a picture that is liked :-) but i thank you for your kind comments and advise :-)

Robert is right - you seem to have come on a long way from what you yourself called wishy washy watercolours, and its so much better for it. You're getting some tasty rich colours going now, which I like. I'm hoping my comment about copyright didn't offend. I wasn't intending to give you a hard time, I just wanted you to be aware of the problem. I see you have removed those postings - and I think that's probably best. But do keep posting your own original works. We need a bit of colour on the site.

Hi Tony thanks for your comments. I feel honoured you were worried about a strangers feelings. I thought it was easier to just remove paintings that cause a problem. I am glad you like this :-)

A really wonderful paintig Rebecca!! A beautiful sunset after a hot, dry day.....lovely.

I don't know how old you are, Rebecca - but you may have a lot of time ahead of you. Maybe taking lessons isn't for you; it wasn't for me, as it happens - I learned 'on the job' - there are strengths you gain from that, if you've the patience.... and a lot depends on what you want to do anyway. Good teachers don't teach you to copy them; but there really aren't that many good teachers - in my opinion anyway; I don't want to paint like other people, for instance. I want to find my own voice. I don't know what I'd do if I were you ...... maybe I'd seek teachers, maybe I wouldn't. If you do, though - make sure they don't teach you why to paint, or even how to paint: the only ones that are of any use are those who can show you how you can take your own vision forward, and help you find the means to do so - eg, by introducing you to techniques you might not have found for yourself, and materials you might otherwise not encounter. If I were your tutor - which I'm not - I'd say your sense of colour is good; your drawing needs more work; I understand you have physical difficulties, and that these may make careful drawing very difficult - if they do, concentrate on broad washes of colour: there's a wonderful painting on the site, posted just recently by Louise Naimian, which I think you've seen. She used a Hake brush, which are gorgeous things, and applied big, broad washes. With that sort of brush, you don't need detail: if you find detailed drawing hard, which I do because I don't see too well, the hake is God's gift! Anyway - keep at it, and if fine detail is hard for you, for whatever reason - physical limitations of any kind including sight problems like mine - think about painting with a palette knife, in acrylic or even oil. Broad swipes of colour stop you having to worry about fine detail.

This is lovely Rebecca. You are finding your own voice....go, go girl. I have some Lana paper hidden away and forgotten, thanks for the reminder I shall dig it out. We shall have a Brusho/Lana fest.

Hi Fiona :-) thank you such lovely kind comments, i am happy you like it, thank you :-)

Hi Sylvia :-) thank you, i am pleased you think it lovely :-) i was concerned it may look similar to the other paintings where i have a person walking a dog :-) You are welcome about the reminder :-p yay, brusho lana fest day, must set a date for that :-p

Hi Robert :-) i am honoured and happy you have taken the time to give me such a nice long thoughtful comment :-) thank you :-) I have put on one of my paintings in the gallery my profile all about me, it could be under the countryside walks painting, my first one i posted on 12th July 2012. but i am 31, but act much younger at times........ :-p i love detail artwork, and am very stubborn :-) i agree with you that my drawing skills are poor and this is why i am trying to improve them by learning from a drawing skills book but it is difficult as it is frustrating to learn to draw a chair........i have a gallery here just for learning skills and my chair is in there :-p it gets boring if i do too much about learning from the book if i just do the books exercises it can take days.........and days..........so i break it up by do expressive work like splattering paint everywhere :-) ummmmm i do not like oil paint, in fact i dislike it completely :-) i can paint many paintings in a day and i have to be able to be free to do that without be inhibited by slow drying paint. I do not wish to paint like other people either. I have my own style but sometimes lack in idea of how to complete a painting that has been created without thought, if that makes sense. I do not think when i paint, the paintings just happen :-) you all may not like this way of painting, but it is how i paint. You sound like you could be the Painters Online mentor for me :-p I am not keen on broad brush strokes....... i use sometimes a mop brush to apply the sky colours, or i use the Manet i have, it depends, on my mood and what I have to hand really at the time :-) i only use watercolours, inks, and sometimes acrylics charcoal, pastels, crayons, and whatever else i cant remember at the moment :-p considering you say you do not see too well, your paintings are excellent and have good detail to them, but that's just my opinion and as you know i have no art knowledge, but i like them :-p

Rebecca I think you have created a lovely atmosphere in this one . In my opinion one of your best .

This is roughly A6 Lana watercolour paper. I used Brusho watercolours. It reminds me of perhaps Africa, a hot evening with the sun setting somewhere anyway :-) hope you like it :-)
