New Lock Gates

New Lock Gates
Comments

Lots to look at Pauline, some sort of restoration or repair to canal?

I'd be interested to know where this is. It looks like a complex loch system. It isn't Anderton lift is it? The people seem to be standing in a waterless loch. Fascinating.

What a complicated scene Pauline but a cracking outcome.

Interesting painting

Thank you for all your encouraging comments ! The New Lock Gates are in Camden Town North London. Not Kensington as posted very sorry for any confusion. Every twenty five years lock gates are replaced by the Canal Trust and the general public were invited to freely walk down into the empty lock and view the new gates after the installation before they filled the lock up again. It was a dullish day with overcast sky but there were plenty of visitors. A very interesting time and I couldn't wait to paint the scene from my photograph.

A very busy scene, tough subject and beautifully captured with a difficult aspect.

I do like this, it's my mind of thing... Painting a captured moment is great and so original..

Your perspective in this interesting composition is pure genius Pauline !

This is such an expertly executed painting - the perspective and story telling is is fascinating - it makes the eye travel everywhere - love it
